English

At Ardmona Primary School, the emphasis in English is to develop the ability to learn to listen to, read, view, speak, write, create and reflect  with confidence and enjoyment using a wide range of texts.

Students are exposed to a wide range of texts during English lessons to foster their enjoyment in literacy and develop their language and confidence.

Home Reading

Regular home reading is expected at all levels of the school with parents playing a vital role in laying the foundations for learning to read. Home reading gives children the opportunity to practise and demonstrate their reading skills to others. Students borrow books to take home along with their Home Reading Diary where they enter the reading they have completed at home. The student's class teacher checks these diaries on a regular basis.

Parental Involvement

Parental involvement in the classroom is highly valued at Ardmona Primary School. We encourage parents to join our morning reading block or liaise with classroom teachers to assist with and assist students in classroom activites.
